9/24/70 issue.  There were several anti-midi ads and articles around this time.  Also, over a few weeks Howard Stein used his "Scenes" column as a platform for a series of experiments in which female friends of his would wear see-through blouses in public and report on people's reactions.  And there were waterbed ads, LOTS of waterbed ads, throughout the year.

Whew!  I think I finally got the hang of the new photo editor--it's got some cool features but it would be much more convenient to use if it had batch uploading capability.  That about wraps up '70.  1971 is on tap next, though I might try to squeeze out an essay before then.

The Rochdale thing is amazing. I used to live in the Rochdale Apartments in Berkeley (named after the same 19th century Utopian experiment)--if only I had known I could get a $5.00 degree from Rochdale U, I would have been the envy of all my friends.

Rewind - Sept 3, 2010 - A Walk in New York

On the Rewind podcast, a sound portrait from 1958 of a city that’s always been a symbol for making it- New York. It’s heard through the ears of a young Canadian actor who is trying to find a gig- anything at all- in the big city. And his name? Leslie Nielsen.

The band "Molimo" listed in a few of the Village Gate ads, had among it's members a young Paul "Ace" Frehley on guitar a few years before he would become the spaceman in Kiss. Very cool to see these ads (and all the rest too). Keep 'em coming...and thanks!

I'm not super well-versed in the finer details of early KISStory, so thanks for filling in that blank!
